
The school of thought behind the battle of Karbala was not to fight a political battle, but it was an act of boldness against cruelty and oppression. The battle was a consequence of the unbending stance of Imam Hussain Ibne Ali, along with his 72 companions, against the Umayyad caliph. Although Imam Hussain fought this battle and revolted against injustice, his basic objective was to bring peace and justice. The heroes of Karbala are termed as models of self-sacrifice who consciously entered into a dangerous zone to uphold moral principles to achieve a higher purpose in life.
The lessons we learned from the event of Karbala are to stay strong and focused even in the face of tyranny. The maintenance of spiritual well-being and strong mental health is the best example of reframing and having an in-depth awareness of thinking patterns. The strong conviction and belief in Allah helped him to stand against unfairness and negativities. The recitations of verses Imam Hussain recited during his journey are best related to everyone, whether dead or alive, to spread his message and purpose of Martyrdom.
The learnings that are made during Karbala help us to design our path of life. One thing that psychology of religion literature gives us is being, a humans, we always have the choice to follow an easy path or a difficult path, which inspires our goal. The higher level of correlation between religiosity and spirituality, leading to strong mental health, indicates that a strong purpose in life is the most important aspect in spending life in a purposeful, determined, and persistent manner.

The teachings that he gifted and conveyed through Imam Sajjad reframe our thinking pattern, which in turn changes our state and ultimately leads us to stay connected to a higher purpose. Imam Hussain taught us to be the driver of our journey with strong conviction and determination. He taught us to be more aware of our thinking patterns, and thus one should become responsible for own mental health with a clear vision and mission. The selection of words and the power of rapport are very important to get strong, convincing power and credibility.
